Virgina Woolf wrote, "Across the broad continent of a woman's life falls the shadow of a sword." On one side of that sword, she said, there lies convention and tradition and order, where "all is correct." But on the other side of that sword, if you're crazy enough to cross it and choose a life that does not follow convention, "all is confusion. Nothing follows a regular course."
The Bhagavad Gita says that it is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection.
Since the Folk Dance Festival at Morro Elementary School, back in the day, I have always had a curiosity and a bond with people from other countries. After befriending quite a few American Field Service (AFS) exchange students in high school and taking a trip to visit one in Italy between my junior and senior year, I decided to become an exchange student myself. I went to Costa Rica for a semester right after graduating from MBHS. Since then I have backpacked Europe, recently explored a few countries in SE Asia- Fall 2007, traveled extensively in South America, taught English in Brazil and even met my husband on the plane ride home in January of 2000. (He was heading back to Santa Barbara to continue playing on the SBCC tennis team.) I have always believed in a balance between traditional and unconventional education and finally got my degree in International Relations in December 2004. I try to grab life by the balls and live life like there is no tomorrow. I am a strong willed girl, passionate about life and relationships, with a sensitive side just trying to change the world one positive vibe at a time. I love living in Brazil and Florianopolis was an island made for me. ♥ ♥ ♥
